AUSTRIAN machine maker Engel has assigned its spare parts operation to logistics firm cargo-partner and its new facility near Vienna Airport.
The operation is now based on cargo-partner's new 12,250-square metre iLogistics Centre which provides 24,500 pallet spaces as well as a small parts store with 32,000 bins.
Engel Austria, based in Schwertberg half way between Vienna and Munich, is an international manufacturer of injection moulding machines, reports London Air Cargo News.
With rapid business growth over the past year, Engel found that storage space at its three production facilities in Austria was no longer sufficient so storage was shifted to the iLogistics Centre.
The move also enabled later pick-up by transport providers as well as later order placement by clients while shipments arriving from different production facilities can now be consolidated more efficiently.
Said Engel vice president Harald Wegerer: 'The iLogistics Centre came at the right time in exactly the right place for us. In addition to the fortunate location near Vienna Airport, the comprehensive technical equipment and fine-tuned processes were decisive factors for our choice.'
