The "Los Llanitos" stranded in Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, since Oct 23, 2015, finally split into at least three sections. The structure of the vessel did not withstand the sea surge, which caused the accomodation block which had a height of 30 meters, to collapse. Almost half of the stern was sunk and was tilting to port, open to the impact of the waves including the main engine and auxiliary generators, power generators which may still contain some oil residues. Despite the multiple fractures, Rafael Vaca, head of the Captaincy of Port in Manzanillo, considered that the current condition of the "Los Llanitos" did not represent a danger for navigation, nor for the fishing community of the area.
