IHC Winches, part of IHC Merwede, has signed a contract for the design and manufacture of a riser pull-in spread to be placed on a MODEC Floating Production Storage & Offloading vessel (FPSO). The delivery of the riser pull-in spread is scheduled for Q1 2013. Part of this system will be built in Brazil to meet the local content requirements for the project.

The riser pull-in package consists of the following innovative products: a riser pull-in winch (designed for a 550mT maximum line pull); an auxiliary pull-in winch (150mT maximum line pull); and a sheave trolley system.

The MODEC FPSO will be capable of processing 150,000 barrels of oil and 280MM-standard cubic feet of gas per day. It also has a total storage capacity of 1,600,000 barrels of fluid and will be moored in a water depth of 2,300m.

The award of this contract provides further evidence that IHC Winches and its partners are well established in the design and development of advanced equipment for the FPSO market and offshore industry -– a testimony to the company’s reliability and the trust placed in it.
