Naming ceremony of the 180.200 DWT Bulk Carrier M.V. CAPE LILY was successfully conducted on 18th of May at Imabari Shipbuilding’s Saijo Shipyard. The vessel, ordered by Kumiai Navigation (Pte) Ltd. for Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd, comes as the company’s 2,000th ship.

Mr. Asakura, President of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. has named her as CAPE LILY. Under the beautiful May sky, many guests and parties concerned have gathered to celebrate the birth of 2,000th vessel.

The year 2011 was celebrated as the 110th anniversary of the company. “We have started construction of steel hull vessel from 1956, and counting from the first vessel M.V. FUJI MARU which was ordered by Ehime Kaiun Co., Ltd. for Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd., we could achieve construction of as many as 2,000 vessels. We sincerely appreciate the warm support and cooperation extended by the owners, the charterers, the parties concerned and the local community, and would like to express our gratitude to them for having made the memorial record possible” said Mr. Asakura.

At the present day, the shipbuilding industries have been still facing with severe circumstance such as depressed world economy and long lasting over evaluated Japanese Yen etc. Even under such circumstances, Imabari Shipbuilding continues to challenge in building much better quality vessels, under the corporate philosophy “Growing together with Shipowners”.
