THE Asia Pacific Maritime (APM) 2012 conference and exhibition in Singapore is said to have ended on a high note with several major maritime deals sealed during the three-day event.

Organisers said in a statement that the maritime event "saw brisk business and networking activities against the backdrop of a turbulent shipping industry".

Highlights include Singapore-based GK Offshore clinching a US$70 million deal on the first day of the event. Bergen Group Dreggen, with headquarters in Norway, announced two new business deals with shipyards in Singapore and Brazil.

Furthermore, Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) also recorded US$5 million in potential sales for shipbuilding, ship repairing and conversion.
