On March 19th, Qingdao Hyundai Shipbuilding Co. launched the 5.026 DWT MV Charoite for the Russian VBTH company. The MV Charoite of project DCV36 is the ninth vessel in a series of 10 vessels ordered by VBTH.

Unlike previous dry cargo vessels series (RSD44 and RSD49 projects) built for the holding, the DCV36 project was a seagoing vessel of unrestricted sailing region from the very beginning. This project has a corresponding safety factor, thickness of hull elements and main engines capacity.

DCV36 prj. is of striking innovation character type. Deadweight exceeding 5000 t for present-day single hold dry cargo vessel with calculated length less than 85m has been reached for the first time.

The vessel is a steel single-deck motor-ship featuring single cargo hold, single screw, forecastle and poop, deck-house and engine-room located aft, a double bottom and double sides in the cargo area, removable grain bulkheads, bulb fore and transom aft ends, hatch covers of “folding” type of Cargotech firm and bow thruster.
