Robert Uggla has until now held the position as Managing Director of Broström, which is part of Maersk Tankers. He replaces Jesper T. Lok, who was recently appointed new CEO of DSB, the national Danish train operator.

“Robert Uggla comes with solid experience from Maersk Line and Broström, where he has shown both management and leadership skills. I am very pleased that Robert is taking the position as CEO of SVITZER,” says Partner and member of the Executive Board Claus V. Hemmingsen, who has the overall responsibility for SVITZER.

“In Broström, Robert has successfully modernized and braced the company for the highly competitive and volatile tankers market. He has proven he has the ability to execute, not least in the integration efforts of Broström into Maersk Tankers. With these results I’m convinced that Robert is the right person to further develop SVITZER,” says Claus V.Hemmingsen.

In connection with the announcement, Robert Uggla says he is enthused by taking on the new position: “SVITZER is not only a world leader in towage and salvage, it offers a unique value proposition to its clients based on safety and reliability. I look forward to contributing to a continued success of the company.”

Robert Uggla joined the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group in 2004. In 2006, he was appointed Maersk Line Country Manager based in Dubai, and in 2009, he became Managing Director of Broström.

SVITZER has some 4,500 employees and operates a fleet of more than 500 vessels within harbour and terminal towage as well as salvage. Globally the company is represented in more than 100 ports. During 2011 SVITZER won long term towage contracts in among other countries Australia. The company currently has a new building programme of 20 vessels.
