JAPANESE transportation group NYK says it has completed its winter "Sail on Safety" campaign, which ran for two months from December until the end of January.

The group said the campaign is conducted every year as part of its effort to prevent accidents that are more likely to occur in turbulent seas and as such are more common during the winter months.

A total of 329 group members, including executives, visited a total of 224 vessels to improve communication between shipboard crew and shore staff. Each side shared current information about each vessel and exchanged opinions on safe ship operations.
