SINGAPORE's APL and Japan's MOL and NYK have announced the launch of a weekly service between the major trading hubs of Asia and key ports in Mexico, Colombia and Panama starting from Busan on May 22.
The carrier partners say they offer competitive transit times, as well as regional connectivity to Central America, west coast South America and the Caribbean basin.
They expressed confience that shippers would be well-served, particularly those with reefer cargo from Latin America to the fast growing Asian markets, said the joint statement.
The Asia-South America Service (ASA) service replaces the Southeast Asia 1 (SE1) service. Eight postpanamax ships in the 6,000-TEU range will be deployed with APL operating six vessels while MOL and NYK will operate one each.
Port rotation for the current SE1 service: Singapore, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Kaohsiung, Los Angeles, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas, San Pedro, Yokohama, Kaohsiung and back to Singapore.
Port rotation for the new ASA service: Busan, Shanghai-Yangshan, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas, Buenaventura, Balboa, Lazaro Cardenas, Manzanillo, Yokohama and back to Busan.
