THE 9,365-TEU CMA CGM Rhone, the seventh of 28 ships named after rivers, enters service designed to meet Bosphorus Strait constraints, with 1,458 reefer plugs and the latest environmental technologies.
The chartered vessel sailing under the Malta flag is the fourth ship of this class built at Chinese yards at Dalian.
At 300 metres long and 48 metres wide, the ship will join the Bosphorus Express (BEX) service rotating through Dalian, Tianjin, Kwangyang, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Chiwan, Shenzhen-Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Izmit, Istanbul-Ambarli, Constanza, Odessa, Ilyichevsk, Port Said, Port Kelang, Singapore and back to Dalian.

The CMA CGM Rhone is equipped with a new bulbous bow shaped to improve hydrodynamics at speeds of 16 to 18 knots as well as an electronically controlled long stroke engine, an exhaust gas bypass system offering fuel savings, a twisted leading edge rudder and a ballast water treatment system.
