SINGAPORE posted a 2.86 per cent increase to 3.68 million tonnes in bunker sold in January, according to the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
Topping sales was marine fuel oil, reports IHS Maritime 360, with the 380-centistoke accounting for 2.76 million tonnes of bunker sales in January, up 2.9 per cent from 2.68 million tonnes in December 2014.
Similarly, sales of marine gas oil also rose by 1.3 per cent m/m to 86,900 tonnes in January, while sales of 180-centistoke increased by 10 per cent to 69,200 tonnes from 63,200 tonnes in December 2014.
The increase in bunker sales was mirrored by the surge in vessel calls for bunker purposes in January at 3,388 vessels, translating to 148 million tonnes, as compared to 3,102 vessels in December 2014.
