THE US Port of New Orleans's Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal docked the 7,400-TEU Maersk Kotka that has started calling at the port as part of two weekly 2M services with MSC.
The world's two largest carriers' ships are calling at the southern US port on its northern Europe service, with the Maersk Kotka, the largest ship on one of the port's highest volume services, which deploys a total of seven ships.
Said New Orleans port CEO Gary LaGrange: "For the last three years Maersk has offered service to New Orleans customers through slot charter agreements with various carriers."
Ships deployed on the Mediterranean-Gulf service are also scheduled to begin calling at New Orleans on February 15, starting with the 6,200-TEU MSC Zambia, reports New York's Marine Link.
These two 2M services are being operated in addition to MSC's Caribbean Gulf service and Central American Express service.
