FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has announced a wide range of demurrage and/or detention surcharges to cover the cost of storage and monitoring containers in the Belgian ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge starting March 1.
"Herewith the revised CMA CGM Belgium demurrage, detention, storage and monitoring (electric power) charges, applicable from the 1st of March 2015 for all containers passing the ports of Antwerp or Zeebrugge," said the notice to trade.
For demurrage, detention or both, the monitoring of import dry reefer boxes, non-operating reefers and special equipment, the free time without charge will be seven days from the day of arrival. From day eight to day 12, the charge will be EUR25 (US$28.25) per TEU per day. And from day 13 on till day 20, the charge will be EUR40 per TEU per day.
Free time for import reefer containers will be five days from the day of arrival. From day six till day seven, the charge will be EUR110 per reefer container per day, and from day eight onwards, it will be EUR120 per reefer container per day.
Free monitoring time will be two working days including the day of arrival. Thereafter, a charge of EUR85 per container per day will apply.
Free time for special equipment will be seven days from day of arrival. From day eight till day there will be a charge of EUR35 per TEU per day, and from day 13 onwards, there will be a charge of EUR55 per TEU per day.
On the export side, dry, reefer and special equipment free time for standard dry and non operating reefers will be 14 days from day of pick-up to ship loading. From day 15 till day 20, there will be a charge of EUR20 per TEU per day, and a EUR35 charge per FEU per day from day 21 onwards, the charge of EUR30 per TEU per day will apply.
Free time for reefer containers will be seven days from day of pickup to the day of loading on board. From day eight till day 14, there will be a charge of EUR90 per reefer container per day and from day 15 onwards, a charge of EUR135 per reefer container per day. Monitoring free time is three working days, including the day of entrance at the terminal. Thereafter, a EUR85 per container per day will apply.
Free time for special equipment for export will be 14 days from the day of pick-up till loaded on board. From day 15 till day 20, there will be a charge of EUR35 per TEU per day and EUR90 per FEU per day.
