Bulkcarrier saved distressed catamaran crew
The "Lady Saliha" has rescued the crew of a sailing vessel in distress off Florida.
The bulkcarrier had left Philadelphia on Nov 16, 2014, and was headed to New Orleans with an ETA as of Nov 22, when it received a call from the US Coast Guard that the catamaran "Pavana" was in trouble just 20 kilometres away.
The bulker, which was 370 kilometres off the coast of Florida, changed course and reached the sailing boat an hour later.
After the three passengers were brought onboard, the "Lady Saliha"’s crew made several attempts to recover the "Pavana" as well but were unsuccessful. The "Pavana"’s crew safely disembarked on Nov 22 in New Orleans.
