HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) recorded in the third quarter total lifting volumes of 1.42 million TEU, an increase of 5.3 per cent year on year on the back of strong Asia-Europe volumes.
Volumes from the main Asia-Europe trade lane surged by 20.9 per cent year on year to 251,861 TEU, while the transpacific trade saw volumes rise 6.3 per cent to 333,403 TEU. The intra-Asia/Australasian route recorded volume growth of 1.5 per cent to 735,142 TEU.
But transatlantic volumes fell 2.5 per cent year on year to 99,921 TEU. Total revenue for the third quarter increased 5.7 per cent compared to the same period last year to US$1.52 million.
In the first nine months of the year, the shipping line handled a total of 4.23 million TEU, up 8.4 per cent year on year, with total revenues reaching $4.41 million, up 4.8 per cent.
