THE 2,262-TEU CMA CGM Manet has arrived at the Sydney International Container Terminals to unload bottles of Burgundy wine as the first stop on its 80-day voyage to five continents that began in mid-June.
On board are 420 bottles of Burgundy's most exceptional wines selected by the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, a guild celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, and they will be received by the equivalent Australian Order.
The container will be reloaded back on the CMA CGM Azure and sent back to France from Sydney on July 28.
The shipping group and its partners intended to demonstrate that transport in reefer containers preserves the wine's aromas and flavours.
Before arriving in France on 18 September it will travel through the Suez Canal across Singapore, Port Kelang, Chennai Colombo, Damietta, Malta, Genoa, Tilbury, Rotterdam and Hamburg, a company statement said.
