JOTUN, a global supplier of marine antifouling coatings, has struck a deal with Maersk Line to supply Hull Performance Solutions (HPS) with SeaQuantumX200 for the shipping line's new triple-E, 18,000-TEU vessels.
The shipping company has already taken delivery of ten of these ships that are either currently in its fleet or entering service, and a further ten are under construction at the DSME shipyard in South Korea.
Keeping under water hull surfaces smooth and clean is crucial to the Danish carrier's efforts to minimise fuel costs and GHG emissions, a statement from Jotun said.
Jotun's vice president of marine coatings Geir Boe said, "Advanced antifouling technology is central to optimising hull performance and the world fleet's energy consumption.
"HPS demonstrates its effectiveness, helping ship owners to quantify efficiency gains and contributing to something we all want - a more sustainable, environmentally-friendly, and profitable shipping industry."
