Yang Ming acquires 4,662 TEU for China Gulf Express (CGX)
YANG Ming acquires second of five 4,662-TEU containerships for China Gulf Express (CGX) service, the YM Essence, to follow on from sister vessel YM Evolution delivered in April from CSBC Corp (Taiwan), Kaohsiung site.
The YM Essence was initially set for delivery in 2011-2012 but was deferred by 30 months due to the financial crisis, reported Alphaliner.
The five vessels, owned by Yang Ming's shipowning arm, All Oceans Transportation, are 271.68 metres long with a beam of 35.80 metres. The ships have a normal Lbp (length between perpendiculars) to B ratio of 7.5, lying between the excessively narrow maxi-panamaxes (ratio of 8.8) and the new generation of wide-beam units (ratio of six to 6.5).
