On Mar 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. the "Nikolay Bauman" sank 12 miles
off the Danube delta.
The crew of 10 Ukrainians and 1 Russian was rescued by Ukrainian Maritime Emergency rescuers and were taken to Vilkovo for medical treatment. The vessel was proceeding with gypsum from Eregli to Kherson.
The reason of sinking seemed to be strong water Ingress into the fore holds. The master claimed to have been trying to ground the vessel, however failed and the ship foundered on approximately 15 metres water depth.
