Indian Navy, Coast Guard apprehend pirate ship

New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) In yet another anti-piracy offensive by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard, a mother ship of Somali pirates was apprehended by Indian warships off Lakshadweep islands Sunday morning.

The merchant vessel, with 32 people on board, which was sailing en route from Italy to Australia, was attacked by Somali pirates during the course of Friday night, but they were swiftly encountered by ships of the 12th Fleet of the Navy.

Hafnia Management that was set up by the Gothenburg-based shipping and investment group Marinvest in 2010 now operates 25 product tanker and chemical tankers; eleven LR1-vessels (45,000–79,999 DWT), two LR2-vessels (80,000–159,999 DWT) and twelve MR-vessels (25,000–44,999 DWT). Marinvest owns eight vessels, Gotlandsbolaget five and Laurtizen Tankers four.
