Fujian's five-month container throughput up 9.8pc to 3.98 million TEU

DURING the first five months of this year, the ports in southeast China's Fujian province lifted 3.98 million TEU, 9.8 per cent more than in the same period a year ago, Xinhua reports.

DURING the first five months of this year, the ports in southeast China's Fujian province lifted 3.98 million TEU, 9.8 per cent more than in the same period a year ago, Xinhua reports.

The Port of Xiamen recorded a throughput of 2.64 million TEU, up 11.7 per cent year on year. The Port of Fuzhou climbed 6.2 per cent to 691,500 TEU.

In the same period, Fujian ports' total cargo volume increased nine per cent to 158 million tonnes. Xiamen overall throughput grew 4.7 per cent to 66 million tonnes while Fuzhou volume increased 12.3 per cent up to 43.1 million tonnes.
