YEMEN's Ministry of Transport and Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation (Port of Aden) has invited companies to open the bidding process to deepen and widen the access channel in the Port of Aden, reports Dredging Today.

The construction of the Aden Container Terminal (ACT) and the recent joint venture with between the Ports Corporation and Dubai World Ports show Aden moving a port on the North Shore of Aden's Inner Harbour, commissioned in 1999 and reached a 500,000 TEU annual volume in 2008, said the report.

Aden wants to handle the world's largest container vessels at the ACT facility. Interested companies are invited to submit documents to establish professional competence and capacity.
