Ukrainian seaports’ boxes volume soars 23% to 50,613 TEUs
Aggregate container trade at seaports of Ukraine in January 2011 increased by 22.9% compared with same period in 2010, to 50,613 TEUs, the country’s Ministry of Infrastructure said citing Ukrmorrichflot report.

Aggregate container trade at seaports of Ukraine in January 2011 increased by 22.9% compared with same period in 2010, to 50,613 TEUs, the country’s Ministry of Infrastructure said citing Ukrmorrichflot report.
Port of Odessa container traffic surged by 43% to 28,313 TEUs, Illichevsk port handled 21,533 TEUs (+0,2%). Port of Mariupol that did not handle containers during last year’s January transshipped only 705 TEUs. There are 18 commercial seaports in Ukraine, all of them are state-owned enterprises. Total container throughput of Illichivsk, Odessa and Mariupol ports in 2010 grew by almost 27% to 659.6 thousand TEUs.
