Austal, Marinette Marine to Build Four Littoral Combat Ships (USA)

The Senate Defense Appropriations Bill for FY2013 contains $1,784,959,000.00 requested by U.S. Senator Herb Kohl and the Department of the Navy for the construction of four Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), Senator Kohl announced today. Two of those ships will be built by Wisconsin’s Marinette Marine and the other two will be built by Austal USA in Alabama, as established by guidelines in a larger Navy ship-building contract.

Russia: Major Shipbuilding Contract for Severnaya Verf

St. Petersburg based JSC Severnaya Verf Shipyard has been contracted by the Defense Ministry to construct 13 warships for the Russian Navy. The contract includes construction of six corvettes of the Project 20385 and the Project 20380, six Project 22350 frigates and a reconnaissance ship.

Two Iranian warships docked on Saturday at a Syrian port, the Iran’s Press TV reported. The vessels – a destroyer and a supply ship – are to provide maritime training to Syria’s navy under an agreement between the two countries, according to the report.

The Brazilian Navy has signed a contract worth £133 million with BAE Systems​ for the supply of three Ocean Patrol Vessels and ancillary support services. The contract also contains a Manufacturing Licence to enable further vessels of the same class to be constructed in Brazil.
