
MARSEILLES' CMA CGM, the world's third largest container shipping company, has announced it will increase freight rates for a number of services between February and March.
Starting February 1, rates for US-Far East strings will increase US$75 per TEU and $150 per FEU as well as on 40-foot high-cube boxes. For loops from Indian subcontinent to the US east coast, rates will increase $320 per TEU, $400 per FEU and $450 per 40-foot high-cube.
From February 9, rates for services from India and Pakistan to Europe will go up $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU. And rates for Mediterranean-east coast of South America service will increase $200 per TEU.
From February 15, rates for North Europe-Far East strings will raise rates $200 per container; for India/Middle East-East Africa trade rates will increase $200 per TEU; also for Mediterranean-Far East services, $50 more on containers waste, plastic, paper, and metal cargo.
From March 1, rates for northern Europe to the Middle East and Red Sea services will increase $100 per TEU; for Baltic ports to the Far East, Middle East, and Red Sea loops, $100 per TEU; for Mediterranean to the Far East strings, $100 per container; for west Mediterranean and Adriatic to the Middle East trades, $50 per container; for India and the Middle East to Africa routes, $150 per TEU; also for Asia to the Adriatic slings, $250 per TEU.
