CSAV container volumes drop in December but higher rates up

CHILEAN carrier CSAV has reported a drop in container volume in December 2011 to 201,000 TEU against the previous December volume of 294,500 TEU alongside improved freight rates.

CHILEAN carrier CSAV has reported a drop in container volume in December 2011 to 201,000 TEU against the previous December volume of 294,500 TEU alongside improved freight rates.

Its freight rates in December 2011 came in at US$1,789 per TEU compared to pegged average 2008 rates of $2,000 per TEU, but improved on December 2010's $1,744 per TEU rate, reported American Shipper.
