ISRAELI flag carrier Zim Integrated Shipping Services has announced a general rate increase on westbound cargo from the Indian subcontinent to north Europe and the Mediterranean from February 1.

"This rate increase is necessary to maintain our current levels of service and high reliability," Zim said in its notice to trade.

The move follows a $100/TEU increase by UASC from January 15, a $200/TEU increase by MSC from January 23 and a $200/TEU increase by Hapag-Lloyd from effective February 1 on the same routes.
