GENEVA's Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), the world's second largest container carrier, has announced it will increase the rates for US$600 per TEU on Far East to the west coast of South America services from December 15.

The increase follows rate hikes from other carriers, notably the world's biggest container shipping line Maersk, which raised rates to same level on the same trade lane and the same date.
