MAERSK Line, the world's largest container carrier, has announced that it will increase freight rates for a number of strings, starting in October.
For services from northern Europe to the east coast of South America, the rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU
For services between Chile and Europe, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, rates will go up by $125 per TEU, $250 per FEU and 40-foot reefer containers.
Effective October 15, rates from Far East and southeast Asia to New Zealand will raise by $250 per TEU and $500 per FEU. Also, for services between the Middle East and the Indian Ocean islands, the rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU.
Additionally, the carrier recently announced rates increases of $250 per TEU and $500 per FEU for northeast Asia-Australia services will be deferred to September 22.
