MSC's levies global bunker surcharges, Asia-Europe hits US$755/TEU

Geneva's Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will levy a bunker surcharges on cargo between Asia and North America, and to the west coast of South America, Central America and Venezuela as of June 1.

Geneva's Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will levy a bunker surcharges on cargo between Asia and North America, and to the west coast of South America, Central America and Venezuela as of June 1.

The surcharges on the routes are as follows: From Asia to Europe, US$755 per TEU, and $585 for TEU reefers; from the east coast of South America to North America, the Caribbean, west coast South America and Venezuela, $652 per TEU; from Bangladesh to Europe and North Africa, $460 per TEU.

On routes from Canada the charges to Central America will be $250 per TEU, to west coast South America $400 per TEU and to Colombia, $300 per TEU.

On trades to India/East Africa the rate will be $100 per TEU, effective May 16.
