PROJECTS FPS, recently-established project forwarding and third-party logistics arm - Famous Pacific Shipping Lanka - has opened a dedicated logistics centre with a document storage and archiving facility in the Port of Colombo.

The facility, located in the commercial area of the port and near the main route to the airport, will provide full third-party logistics service including labelling, packing, storage, inventory management and nationwide distribution.

Additionally, it will offer full offsite document storage and management including archiving, retrieval, transportation and secure destruction. This is designed to appeal to the many companies for whom properly managed remote document storage is now a legal requirement.

All activities in the Projects FPS facility are controlled by a customised warehouse data management to enable customers to view their goods inventory or document movement history online. The facility has a comprehensive range of handling equipment and purpose-designed modern racking systems.

Our new 3PL facility is an important addition to our capabilities, completing our logistics offerings, and enabling us to become an integral link in our customers' total supply chains, said its senior manager of warehousing and 3PL logistics services Shanaka Lansakara in a statement.

"The document management service will help our customers manage growing quantities of documents and data, and comply with legislation, while fully supporting their need to maintain information security at all times," he added.
