JAPAN's Kyowa Shipping, a provider of ocean shipping in the South Pacific, recently expanded its reefer fleet with 25 Magnum Plus container refrigeration units from Thermo King.
The company chose the Thermo King because of their -40C freezing capability for their tuna exports, though the reefer unit can be also be used for fresh produce.
"This provides ideal transport temperatures for tuna, a premier cargo assigned to our South Pacific route," said Kyowa Shipping director Kazunari Uede.
Thermo King and EF International Ltd (EFI), a Japanese trader of international sea containers, established a partnership last year, instrumental in providing Kyowa Shipping with the refrigeration units.
Said EFI managing director Harumi (Harry) Nakao: "Thermo King understands that innovation and dependable technology translates to better service and quality product. No other reefer can provide -40C today."
