Greek PM urges shipowners to show confidence in leftist government
GREEK Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has formerly opened the Posidonia international shipping exhibition at the Metropolitan Expo Centre next to Athens Airport.
Mr Tsipras used the occasion to urge Greek shipowners to have confidence in the government and called "for their help so that we can build a new relationship with the state, for the benefit of society and the economy".
The leftist prime minister went on to explain that Greek ship ownership had managed to overcome its own crisis while the Greek state has not, so the former has a lesson to teach the latter.
Mr Tsipras admitted that while Greek shipping is competitive, the Greek economy is not, reported the English edition of Kathimerini.
