CSCL Indian Ocean: Inspections at Eurogate
After the "CSCL Indian Ocean" berthed in Hamburg-Waltershof on Feb 9 at 6. a.m., the German Central Command for Shipwrecks in Cuxhaven ended its work at 11 a.m. Involved had been 26 ships and an oil surveiilance aircraft.
The salvage costs were estimated to be in a two digit million Euro range.
The loss ot the ship cost the owners 54000 Euro per day.
Short after the arrival in port representatives of the CSCL Indian Ocean Shipping Co, and the classification society DNV GL an went on board for safety inspections.
Visual inspections of the interior and the hull above the water were planned as well as controls of the underwater hull, propeller and rudder by divers or ROVs.
At the grounding site the 65000 cbm sand which have been removed are to be carried back onto the river bottom during the forthcoming days.
