Last Sunday’s magnitude 7.2 earthquake in the eastern province of Van, which claimed the lives of hundreds of people and injured more than 2,500, has prompted many in Turkey, but mainly the government, to think about what steps Turkey should take in order to prevent similar tragedies in the event of a future earthquake.
