Afai Southern shipyard, in the afternoon of August 6th, launched the DFF4212 fast ferry (ASA032) named “Anneke”. The aluminum ferry has been designed by Damen Shipyards. The two shipyards work in close cooperation since 2001 to build aluminium vessels.

Amongst other ships, this has led to the two biggest aluminium vessels built in China, i.e. two 85m RoPax ferries delivered to Turkish ferry operator IDO.

The vessel is 36.28m long with the beam of 9.7m, design speed of 27 knots and can carry 195 people.

On the ceremony, Consul General of the Netherlands in Guangzhou Madam Anneke Luwema delivered a speech and was honored that the ferry will bear her name.
