In partnership with Northumbrian boat builder, Alnmaritec, BMT Nigel Gee Ltd, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd the leading international maritime design and engineering consultancy has recently completed the design and delivery of its 40 knot fast patrol boat design.

The vessel is destined for the Arabian Gulf where she will be used for port security patrol duties.

The asymmetric catamaran hull form, with an overall length of 13.2m, was developed from BMT’s proven high speed patrol boat design that has previously been used on fast patrol boats for Police, Fire Brigade and military applications.

The large wheelhouse provides exceptional comfort with suspension seating for a total of eight crew and passengers, washroom facilities and is also fully air conditioned for the harsh ambient conditions in the region.

Easy access for daily maintenance of the machinery is provided by large, flush mounted deck hatches. The vessel has demonstrated exceptional performance and during sea trials surpassed the contract performance requirements, with the two Cummins QSC 600 hp engines and Rolls-Royce A32 waterjets providing a maximum speed of 43 knots.

Commenting on the contract completion John Bonafoux, BMT Nigel Gee’s Managing Director, said:

“We were pleased to support Alnmaritec with the design of this high performance patrol boat which yet again demonstrates our expertise in specialist vessel design. We have worked with Alnmaritec on a number of recent projects but this is the first full hull and structural design we have provided. Given the growth in the market for such specialist types of vessels, we hope to develop this relationship further.”
