Hamburg Sud orders six 9,600-TEUers from Hyundai Heavy Industries

GERMAN shipping line Hamburg Sud has ordered six 9,600-TEU ships, with an option to buy four more of the same size, from South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries with current list prices indicating the order is worth KRW800 billion (US$711 million).

GERMAN shipping line Hamburg Sud has ordered six 9,600-TEU ships, with an option to buy four more of the same size, from South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries with current list prices indicating the order is worth KRW800 billion (US$711 million).

The vessels will be equipped with 1,700 reefer plugs and capable of carrying containers one foot taller than standard boxes. The ships are slated for delivery from May 2013 to January 2014, reports London's International Freighting Weekly.



It said that HHI has so far this year received orders to build 13 vessels worth a total of $3.4 billion.
