Esvagt A/S has finally taken delivery of the Esvagt Bergen, it arrived yesterday at its home port of Esbjerg.
The vessel's delivery had been delayed around one and a half year as the Spanish shipyard Factoria Naval de Marin, Marin, filed for bankruptcy during the construction.
“We have fortunately a very understanding charterer of the vessel, who has been more interested in receiving a completed vessel”, says Søren Thomsen, CEO of Esvagt.
The Esvagt Bergen will soon enter into a long-term charter with the Norwegian energy group Statoil as a multifunctional standby/rescue vessel. The ship is the company’s first X-bow vessel (type SX123).
The Esvagt Bergen, 4,261 gt, has a length of 80 metres and a beam of 17 metres.
She is powered by a double Caterpillar plant (MaK) developing 7,680 kW an giving her a service speed 19 knots.
The vessel has capacity of 300 survivors and is fitted with a firefighting system. Bent Mikkelsen
