The Norwegian yard group Ulstein has signed a contract with Eidesvik Offshore for the construction of an offshore IMR/ construction vessel for an undisclosed sum.
The vessel, an Ulstein SX148 design, is set for delivery at the end of 2012. After delivery it will enter a charter with Statoil.
The vessel will be 106.5 metres long and 24.5 metres wide with a top speed of over 17 knots.
It will have accommodation for a crew of 90. The vessel can carry out highly advanced subsea work such as inspection, maintenance and repair of oil installations on the sea bed.
The equipment on board includes a 100 ton AHC (Active Heave Compensated) offshore crane. It will be used mainly for lifting and lowering heavy equipment from and to the sea bed.
