One of the two Greatest Asphalt Tankers in the World T.AYLİN built by RMK Marine was launched
Following T.ESRA’s -first of the two tankers that bear the title “greatest asphalt tankers manufactured in the World that has cargo tank blocks independent from hull structure- launching to the sea on January 24, 2014, Koç Holding’s RMK Marine company, operating in commercial and military vessels and superyacht sector, has accomplished a significant stage through the launching of second tanker T.AYLİN. Executives of Koç Holding, DİTAŞ, TÜPRAŞ and RMK Marine attended the launching ceremony of T.AYLİN held on June 24 in RMK Marine’s shipyard in Tuzla.
RMK Marine, one of Koç Holding’s companies, accomplished T.AYLİN’s launching ceremony at its shipyard in Tuzla on June 24. T.AYLİN is the second of the two 19,000 DWT Tankers manufactured for Ditaş; the first tanker T.ESRA was put to the sea on January 24, 2014.
In his speech at the launching ceremony, RMK Marine’s General Manager Adnan Nefesoğlu underlined that T.ESRA and T.AYLİN vessels are the greatest asphalt tankers with cargo tanks independent from hull structure and added that they are proud to take part as RMK Marine in such a Project in the world. Nefesoğlu mentioned that the tankers with 156,5 meters height, 25 meters width and 9,5 meters draught were designed in a way that allow a draught up to 19,000 DWTs and speed of 14 knots and said, “Petroleum-derived products up to 250⁰C of heat such as bitumen and asphalt could be carried in our vessels that reduce the fuel consumption through environment-friendly two-cycle diesel engines”. Nefesoğlu continued, “These vessels are manufactured within the scope of Fuel Oil Transformation Project, currently conducted by one of our country’s and group’s best companies TÜPRAŞ that shall contribute to our country’s annual trade balance with an additional 1 billion US Dollars and employment opportunities. The vessels bear a great importance for the integrity of the project and will be delivered to DİTAŞ in August and December 2014”.
Vessel's Particulars
The vessel is designed as single-screw asphalt/oil tanker capable of cruising for 27 days uninterruptedly. She is capable to carry oil products (FP above 60 C) and asphalt/bitumen with at 250 C. Cargo area comprises double bottom and sides as ballast tanks, one continuous main deck, four (4) independent cargo tank blocks and two (2) cargo pump rooms. The overall hull structure including cargo tanks were analyzed by FEM tools for safety and weight optimization. The hull form, optimized with computational fluid dynamics (CFD), is designed for minimum fuel consumption at economic mode with minimum hydrodynamic resistance. Overall design provides an environmental friendly, cost-effective, reliable and flexible unit. The tankers have DNV classification.
