OMAN's Port of Salalah is to mark a record milestone of 30 million TEU in its eastbound call of a new shipping alliance G6 Asia-Europe service begun in March.
The APM Terminal-operated port, in its 14th year of operation, offers a hub in west central Asia region with access to the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and East Africa for its customers which include Maersk APL, MSC, SCI and CSAV.
"This milestone is an opportunity to recall that our location, efficiency and experience in service, and the options we can offer our customers are compelling reasons why the Port of Salalah is a port of choice for the region," said the port's chief liner commercial manager Iain Rawlinson.
Members of the G6 are APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, MOL, NYK and OOCL. Its sixth loop has the following port rotation: Qingdao, Shanghai, Hong Kong, South China, Singapore, Salalah, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Southampton, Tangier, Salalah, Singapore, South China, and Qingdao.
