LA January volume off 22.7pc, LB down 18.8pc, Seattle-Tacoma off 21pc
THE Port of Los Angeles posted a 22.7 per cent year-on-year decline in January to 529,427 TEU, mostly blamed on congestion from docker slowdowns.
Long Beach also suffered an 18.8 per cent year-on-year January decline to 429,490 TEU, with imports off 23.5 per cent to 213,667 TEU as exports fell 19.6 per cent to 98,462 TEU. Empties came in at 117,361 TEU, down 7.6 per cent.
Los Angeles January imports dropped 28 per cent to 259,206 TEU with exports declining 23 per cent to 124,365 TEU. Empties fell 10.8 per cent.
It was the same at Seattle-Tacoma as January imports fell 21 per cent to 89,982 TEU and exports dropped seven per cent to 81,213 TEU. Domestic volumes to Alaska and Hawaii also fell seven per cent to 55,711 TEU.
