Oakland September up 2.87pc to 207,412 TEU in year's busiest month
THE Port of Oakland has posted a 2.87 per cent year-on-year increase in container throughput to 207,412 TEU in September, its busiest month for more than a year.
Imports were up 7.1 per cent during the height of the September-October peak season when retailers finalise Christmas merchandise orders.
Exports fell 7.27 per cent, a decline attributed to a strong US strong dollar, making American goods less attractive overseas.
The Port reported no chassis shortages in September, reported the American Journal of Transportion, adding that a shortage has been reported at other US west coast ports.
