IN Hong Kong dredging operations have started at the Stonecutters Island sewage treatment works.
According to Marine Department Notice No 127, the dredging works will be carried out within an area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS84 Datum) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 degrees 19.586'N / 114 degress 08.455'E; (B) 22 degrees\ 19.618'N / 114 degrees 08.476'E; (C) 22 degrees\ 19.525'N / 114 degrees. 08.643'E; (D) 22 degrees. 19.497'N / 114 degrees 08.625'E.
The works will be carried out by a derrick lighter. One split-hopper barge and two tugs will assist in the works. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements, reported GAC Hot Port News.
A working area of 50 metres around the derrick lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be used to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the derrick lighter.
The hours of work will be from 0700 to 2300 hours. Vessels employed in the dredging works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.
