Indian court quashes objections to PSA International Mumbai terminal
THE High Court of Bombay has dismissed public interest litigation filed against Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) over its deal with Singapore port operator PSA International, reported the Daily Shipping Times of Mumbai.
The JNPT-PSA International deal to build and operate a container terminal in Mumbai, the single largest foreign direct investment in the Indian port sector, was signed last month.
If the petition were admitted, it would have been a major setback for JNPT as the INR8,000 crore (US$1.3 billion) project - a fourth container terminal at the port - has already been delayed by disputes and litigation.
