The Turkish teamhas won all five matches in the group stage to lead Group C.TOP U.S. GENERAL SAYS THEY ARE NOT INVITED FOR TURKEY MANEUVER, DIPLOMATSSAY THEY AREChairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs Adm. Michael Mullen said on Sunday thatTurkey had not invited the United States Air Forces to participate in an annualmilitary exercise. Yet U.S diplomatic sources said Turkey had extended theinvitation for the Anatolian Eagle, a military maneuver of air forces from Turkeyand several other countries in skies over the central Anatolian province ofKonya.CUMHURIYET----------MAYOR SOUNDS CONFIDENT OVER REFERENDUM BOYCOTTMayor of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir Osman Baydemir wasconfident about a call by the Peace and Democratic Party to boycott a September12 referendum in Turkey. Baydemir said he would resign if the turnout in thereferendum exceeded 51 percent. Baydemir said he estimated that 60-70 percent ofthe voters in Diyarbakir would boycott the voting.U2 TO ROCK ISTANBULThe legendary Irish rock band U2 is set to appear at their first concertever in Turkey. The concert is on Monday at Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic Stadium.RADIKAL ------- ERDOGAN IS ALSO AFFIRMATIVE TOWARD IDEA OF MUSEUM Emin Aktar, Chairman of Bar of Diyarbakir, and some representatives of the NGOs relayed Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan the proposal to turn Diyarbakir prison into a museum. Aktar said Erdogan was not negative over the proposal. MATCH THAT CANNOT BE COMPENSATED Turkey will take on France at the eight-finals of the 2010 World Basketball Championship in Istanbul. The match starts at 9.00 p.m. SHOW STARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY ARRIVED U2 came to Istanbul with its private plane to give a concert in Istanbul and the show started immediately they landed at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport. Germany's defense minister says the commander of the troubled navy training ship has been relieved of his duties and the vessel ordered to return amid questions surrounding the death of a sailor on board late last year. Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg said the Gorch Fock would remain in port pending the results of an investigation into the death of the 25-year-old sailor who plunged from the ship's rigging in November. Guttenberg told ARD public broadcaster on Saturday Jan. 22, 2011 the ship would not be used for training pending the outcome of an investigation. Guttenberg consistently polls as one of the nation's most popular politicians, but has come under pressure in recent weeks over a series of issues in the military, including the death on the Gorch Fock.
