LEFKOSA (A.A) - Turkey's ambassador in Lefkosa said on Fridaythat a non-functional agreement could not be imposed on Turkish Cypriots in theongoing negotiation process in Cyprus.Speaking during his visit to Turkish Cypriot Agriculture&Natural ResourcesMinister Zorlu Tore, Turkish ambassador in Lefkosa Kaya Turkmen said the TurkishCypriot nation would eventually get the place it deserved in the internationalarena.Noting that the settlement to be reached in Cyprus would take intoconsideration the security concerns, as well as the prosperity and happiness ofTurkish Cypriots, Turkmen said guarantees were indispensable elements of thesettlement process."It is not possible to impose a non-functional agreement on Turkish Cypriotswho have Turkey's strong support behind them,"the ambassador said.Turkish Cypriot Minister Tore said in his part that Turkish Republic ofNorthern Cyprus would proceed on its way with Turkey's support."Whether or not there is a settlement in Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriot nationwill continue to protect its sovereignty, territory and state,"Zore said.(DO-CE)
