ANKARA (A.A) - The president of the Parliamentary Assembly ofthe Council of Europe (PACE), said on Friday that Islamophobia resulted from lackof communication.PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu said Islamophobia was a result of ignorance,misunderstanding and lack of communication."The rapid rise in Islamophobia causes disappointment among all Muslims,particularly those living in Europe and make them feel excluded,"Cavusoglu saidduring a panel discussion held on the sidelines of the Third Forum of theAlliance of Civilizations in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.Cavusoglu said Islam had become the second biggest religion in Europe today.It was a fact that some extreme groups existed among the Muslims, but it waswrong and unacceptable to assume negative stance on Islam and entire Muslims bytaking those extreme groups as a reference, he said.Cavusoglu also said it should be the Muslim societies that had to reactfirstly against every extreme behavior made in the name of Islam.(BRC-AÇ)
