ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan willbe presented ANIU award by UN-Habitat and Rafic Hariri Foundation.This year's award will be presented to Erdogan for his success inleadership, good governance and as a statesman during his term as IstanbulMetropolitan Mayor between 1994 and 1997.In 1996, the second United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (HabitatII) was held in Istanbul while Erdogan was the mayor of the city, and"HabitatAgenda"and"Istanbul Declaration"were adopted in the conference.UN-Habitat Executive Director Anna Tibaijuka congratulated Erdogan, and saidthat his contributions as Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor would not be forgotten.Turkish Culture&Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay will receive the award onbehalf of Erdogan during the 5th World Urban Forum which will take place inBrazil between March 22 and 26.(GC-MS)
